New York has no shortage of things to see and do. While New York City is one of the state’s main attractions for obvious reasons, it’s certainly not the only reason for a visit to the state of New York.

In fact, there are nearly 54,000 square miles of land that lie outside of New York City to explore.

There’s the 315-mile Hudson River, which runs from the Adirondack Mountains to New York City. There are also 70,000 miles of other waterways within the state. You can visit the Atlantic Ocean and even two of the Great Lakes here.

There are three major mountain ranges to explore: the Catskills, part of the Appalachian Mountains, and the enormous Adirondack Mountains, which have a total park size of 28 million acres, making it the largest park in the United States besides in Alaska.

There is certainly a lot to do in the Empire State.
